Diwali 2026 falls on November 8 - the most celebrated festival of light in India and the most auspicious day for welcoming Goddess Lakshmi into your home. The Lakshmi Puja performed on Diwali night is believed to invite divine prosperity for the entire coming year. Vastu tells us that Lakshmi only enters homes and businesses that are energetically prepared to receive her - prepared not just by cleaning but by activating the right zones.
Goddess Lakshmi and the Vastu Zones She Governs
Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, beauty, and abundance. In Vastu, her energy flows through the North zone which is the zone of Kuber and money, the South East zone which is the zone of cashflow and fire of prosperity, and the West zone which is the zone of profit and fulfilment. All three zones must be clean, open, and energetically activated before Diwali night.
Zone-by-Zone Diwali Cleanse
North Zone (Cleanse by Nov 5): Remove all heavy furniture and storage. Clean thoroughly. Place a money plant and blue or green decorative item. Light blue diyas here on Diwali. South East Zone (Cleanse by Nov 6): Remove any water elements like aquariums from SE. Clean thoroughly. Place red diyas here on Diwali. West Zone (Cleanse by Nov 7): Clean and reorganize. Place golden yellow diyas in West. North East (Cleanse on Nov 7): The most sacred zone. Clean absolutely. Place the main Lakshmi idol here for puja. South West (Cleanse throughout): Keep heavy and stable. This is where wealth will be stored.
Diwali Night Ritual
On November 8 evening, light diyas in all 16 directions starting from North East, moving clockwise. The puja should be performed in NE facing East or North. After puja, place the Lakshmi idol in a permanent position in NE or North. Leave a diya burning through the night in the South East zone.
