Many devotees perform daily puja with sincerity and yet feel that their prayers are not being answered. The offerings are made, the mantras are chanted, the diya is lit. But there is no feeling of divine response, no manifestation of blessings, no tangible shift in life circumstances. This is often not a spiritual problem - it is a Vastu problem with the puja room itself.
The Ideal Puja Room Location
North East is the ideal zone for a puja room in Vastu - it is called Ishanya Kona, the corner of God. The divine energy entering your home through the NE zone amplifies prayers and makes them more effective. East zone is the second best option for a puja room - aligned with the rising sun and new beginnings energy.
The Worst Puja Room Locations
Puja room in South West: The SW zone governs heavy earth and stability energy - not the light divine energy needed for a puja room. Prayers here tend to feel heavy and unresponsive. Puja room under a staircase: Extremely inauspicious - placing your divine space in a zone of descent and structural pressure suppresses prayer energy completely. Puja room next to or facing a toilet: The proximity of waste disposal energy negates prayer energy regardless of how sincerely you pray.
Idol Direction During Puja
Idols should face East or West. You should face East or North while praying. Never place idols facing North - this positions you facing South while praying, which is the direction of endings rather than new beginnings.
Common Puja Room Mistakes
Too many idols in one small space: Creates energy fragmentation. Never have more than the idols you genuinely worship regularly. Broken idols or damaged photographs of deities: Deeply inauspicious - replace immediately. Puja room used as storage: Common in Indian homes - the divine space becomes a dumping ground for objects which completely destroys its sacred frequency.
Remedies
Place puja room in NE or East zone. Idols should face East or West. Worship facing East or North. Keep only the idols you regularly worship. Replace all broken idols and damaged deity photographs immediately. Never store non-puja items in the puja space.
